A growing challenge among employers within professional trades involves having adequately trained staff. The resource gap for qualified staff applies to most trades including construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and pool and spa professions. To fill employment needs, employers have a greater need to train and promote existing staff and to recruit and train other trade-industry staff in an efficient manner.
In 2015, a meeting of pool and spa industry professionals generated this outcome for success: “Pursue creating a career development path(s) for the industry.” The National Swimming Pool Foundation acted on this outcome in several important ways.
In 2016, NSPF merged with Genesis, a company which, like NSPF, is an IACET-approved provider of education for the residential pool industry. This merger, coupled with the development and launch of two key educational programs, has resulted in a development pathway for careers in the pool and spa service and construction segments. This session will outline that pathway with the hopes of inspiring business owners to grow their business through informed, and well-trained employees.
