Mahesh Patel, MSc., CPHI(C) In his 22 year career, Mahesh Patel has gained extensive experience in all aspects of Environmental Health. He joined Toronto Public Health's Healthy Environments management team in 2000. His qualifications include: - BSc (Honours) in Applied Chemistry (Kingston University, UK), a Graduate of the Royal Society of Chemistry - BAA in Environmental Health (Ryerson University, (Canada)) - MSc (with Distinction) in Water and Environmental Management (Staffordshire University, UK). He actively participates in various committees and is a member of local and international professional associations including the C I PH I, ASPHIO, NEHA and AWWA. Mahesh is currently the Health Hazard Manager with TPH. He leads Safe Water and Legal & Enforcement programs. As the Safe Water lead, he is responsible for both drinking and recreational water quality. It includes monitoring quality of drinking water, beach water and compliance inspection program for public swimming pools, spas and wading pools. As the Legal & Enforcement lead he has played a major role in the development and implementation of policies & procedures and provides on-going enforcement training and support to staff internally. Externally he continues to provide assistance and training to other Ontario Health Units and agencies for which he was awarded an award of excellence by CIPHI in 2012. Mahesh has authored a number of articles in Pool and Spa industry magazine and has published a chapter in a book on Toronto's water.
